Oregon Teen of Impact - American Heart Association 2026!

In 2024, participating in the Congenital Heart Walk opened my eyes to the critical realities of prenatal congenital heart conditions (CHD) and the urgent need for early detection. Inspired by the resilience of affected families, I transformed that spark of awareness into rigorous scientific inquiry.

To help bridge diagnostic gaps, I developed a machine learning algorithm engineered to assist in predicting Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) from prenatal echocardiograms, aiming to make prenatal screening faster, more accurate, and more accessible.

Scientific Recognition & Clinical Collaboration

Taking this research beyond the lab, I shared my findings across regional platforms:

  • Statewide Recognition: Awarded 4th Place in Innovation across Oregon at the state science fair for novel computational cardiology applications.

  • Clinical Outreach: Engaged with leading local pediatric cardiologists and maternal-fetal specialists, gathering expert feedback to refine and validate the algorithm's clinical feasibility.

AHA Teen of Impact & Caregiver of the Torch

My mission extends beyond algorithms to community-wide advocacy. Nominated among outstanding youth leaders for the American Heart Association (AHA) Teen of Impact campaign, I spearheaded awareness initiatives and raised nearly $12,000 for cardiovascular health and congenital heart research. Earning the AHA Teen of Impact Winner title and becoming an official Caretaker of the Torch, I remain committed to championing heart health through cutting-edge technology and relentless advocacy.
